In our 30 years of experience, we’ve learned that automotive enthusiasts always want more. Our 30,000-square-foot R&D tech center is home to two in-ground dynamometers, a flow bench, and sound testing to ensure that every new part passes our quality and performance standards before being approved for manufacturing. If it doesn’t produce power, we don’t make it.


We want you to have the best sound possible. With this in mind, we’ve designed our mufflers to have a free-flowing, straight-through design with a perforated stainless steel core, mesh wrap, and acoustical fiber fill to deliver that smooth, deep tone. Our mufflers are packed tight with acoustic material to ensure long life and no sound degradation.

Gibson Exhaust System

THE GIBSON DIFFERENCE: USEABLE POWER! Gibson delivers its optimal power in the low to mid-range of 2,000 to 4,000 RPM. Other exhaust manufacturers claim to generate more power, but their optimal range is closer to 5,000-6,000 RPM. Such a high RPM range for horsepower and torque is rarely used by street vehicles and is more of a benefit for race vehicles. That's why Gibson exhausts are designed for practical "real world" driving, performance enthusiasts, and heavy-duty work use.

TURBULENCE

Every point where exhaust gas pulses enter or exit an exhaust component causes turbulence. Gibson Exhaust Systems uses two methods to reduce turbulence to the absolute minimum: First, their Superflow muffler utilizes a patented Superior flow design that assists exhaust gas in flowing out of the system. Secondly, Gibson uses slip-fit joining, where every pipe fits into the larger opening of the next pipe downstream. This design creates far less turbulence than flange-and-gasket or ball-and-socket joining. The result is minimal backpressure at every joint, giving you maximum exhaust flow for maximum power gains.

RESTRICTION AND FLOW

Power-robbing restriction occurs at two critical points: The pipe bends and the muffler. Gibson uses a chambered and baffled dynamic structure to dramatically reduce restriction and provide far more flow than screened or packed mufflers. Plus, each Gibson exhaust tube is mandrel-bent, which maintains the same pipe diameter through every bend. Consistent diameters let the exhaust gases flow through just as well as a straight pipe. Gibson pipes are also larger than stock, providing more open flow with less restriction.

BIGGER ISN'T BETTER

Without the proper muffler, a too-large pipe will only boost top-end power and reduce low-end torque. Gibson doesn't focus on simply maximizing flow - they strive to make that flow as efficient as possible. That's why you won't see insanely high-diameter pipes on Gibson Exhausts.

WHERE DOES THE POWER COME FROM?

Typical stock mufflers create a 34% (or more) exhaust restriction. Gibson power-tunes every SuperFlow muffler specifically to each vehicle, resulting in restrictions as low as 5%. When you need trailer-pulling, hill-climbing power, and torque, Gibson flow is the way to go.
