RESTORATION & BODY REPAIR IN COLUMBUS, OHIO

Body repair and restoration work come in two forms at Pickups Plus Cars. The first is collision repair: accident damage, impact damage, structural issues, and the paint and panel work that goes with it. The second is restoration: bringing a neglected or worn vehicle back to where it should be, whether that's correcting faded or damaged paint, replacing rusted panels, or addressing years of deferred body work.

Every job starts with an honest assessment of what's actually there. For a collision repair, that means understanding the full extent of the damage before quoting the work, including anything that isn't visible until we get into it. On a restoration, it means telling you what the vehicle needs, what it will take to get there, and whether the scope matches your goals and budget.

RESTORATION & BODY REPAIR SERVICES

  • Collision Repair

Collision damage ranges from cosmetic to structural, and the full extent isn't always clear from the outside. We assess the damage thoroughly before recommending any work, so there are no surprises once the job is underway. Repair includes panel work, structural straightening, and paint matching to restore the vehicle to pre-accident condition. We document what we find and walk you through the repair plan before anything starts.

  • Rust & Body Panel Work

Surface rust addressed early is a straightforward repair. Rust that has worked its way into body panels or structural components is a bigger job, but it's one we handle. We remove compromised material, treat the affected area, and replace or repair panels to restore structural integrity and appearance. Ohio winters accelerate rust on wheel wells, rocker panels, and undercarriage areas. If you're seeing early signs, it's worth getting it looked at before it spreads.

  • Paint & Finish Restoration

Paint fades, chips, oxidizes, and wears unevenly over time. Restoration work on the finish can range from repainting isolated panels with accurate color matching to a full respray on a vehicle that's ready for a fresh start. Accurate color matching is critical on any repair, and we take the time to get it right. We can also apply protective coatings after a restoration to help the finish hold up longer than the original did.

  • Part Sourcing & Custom Work

Body repair and restoration often requires sourcing parts that aren't sitting on a shelf. We locate OEM and quality aftermarket components for the vehicles we work on, including older or harder-to-find models. For customers who want to combine restoration with upgrades, we can incorporate modifications as part of the project rather than treating them as a separate job. Tell us what you're trying to accomplish and we'll work through what it takes to get there.

COMMON RESTORATION & BODY REPAIR QUESTIONS

  • Do you work with insurance for collision repairs?

Yes. We work with customers on insurance-related collision repairs and can document the damage and repair scope in the format insurers require. The process starts the same way it does for any repair: we assess the vehicle and determine exactly what the damage involves before anything is submitted or started. If the insurance estimate doesn't fully account for what we find once we're into the job, we communicate that directly and help you work through it. Come in and we'll walk you through how it works.
  • How do you match paint color on a repair or restoration?

Modern vehicles use paint codes to identify the factory color, and we use those codes as the starting point for any color match. On older or sun-faded vehicles, the existing finish has often shifted from the original code, which means matching requires adjustment beyond just pulling the code. We assess the surrounding panels and blend the repair into the existing finish to avoid visible transitions. Getting a paint match right takes more time than some shops give it, and we don't cut that corner.
  • What's the difference between collision repair and a restoration?

Collision repair addresses specific damage from an impact event. The goal is to restore the vehicle to its pre-accident condition. A restoration addresses accumulated wear, neglect, or age across the vehicle's body, paint, or structural components. The two can overlap when a collision happens to a vehicle that also has existing body issues, and in those cases we assess everything together so repairs aren't done twice. Either way, the job starts with a thorough look at what's actually there.
  • Can a vehicle with significant rust damage be restored?

It depends on where the rust is and how far it has progressed. Surface rust and panel rust are repairable. Rust that has compromised structural components like frame rails or floor pans is a more serious conversation. We assess rust damage honestly, including the areas that require closer inspection to evaluate fully. If a vehicle is worth restoring, we'll tell you what it takes. If the rust has progressed to a point where the repair cost doesn't make sense relative to the vehicle's value, we'll tell you that too.
