TRUCK & SUV BODY ACCESSORIES

Most exterior accessories do one thing well: protect the vehicle, improve the look, or both. The part that varies is fitment. Bug shields, rain guards, grille guards, and custom grilles all sound straightforward until you're trying to source one for a specific year, make, and trim and find that three versions exist for the same truck. An accessory that doesn't seat correctly against the body panels looks worse than no accessory at all. At Pickups Plus Cars, we've been fitting exterior accessories to trucks and SUVs across Central Ohio for 25+ years, and we source parts built to hold up in Ohio weather.

These accessories tend to pair well together. A truck that comes in for a grille guard often leaves with bug shields and rain guards as well, covering both ends of the vehicle without getting into a major build. Customers planning more involved exterior customization often use these as a starting point before moving into wraps, lighting, or a full body kit.

BODY ACCESSORIES WE OFFER

We supply and install exterior body accessories for trucks, SUVs, and cars across Central Ohio, including bug shields, rain guards, grille guards, and custom grille replacements.

Bug Shields

Bug shields, also called hood protectors, mount at the front edge of the hood to deflect road debris, insects, and stone chips away from the hood and windshield. They're a practical addition for highway drivers and anyone who puts significant miles on their truck. We carry shields with custom fitment for a wide range of makes and models.

Rain Guards

Rain guards, or window visors, mount above the door glass and allow you to crack the windows for fresh air without rain or highway wind forcing its way in. They also reduce interior heat buildup when the vehicle is parked. In-channel and tape-on styles are both available depending on the vehicle and the customer's preference.

Grille Guards

Grille guards mount to the front frame of the vehicle to protect the grille, headlights, and front bumper from impacts with wildlife, brush, or other road hazards. They're most common on trucks and SUVs used in rural areas or for towing, where front-end damage from a deer or debris strike is a real risk. We carry guards in steel and aluminum across multiple styles and finishes.

Custom Grilles

A custom grille replacement changes the front face of the vehicle more than almost any other single accessory. Mesh, billet, and LED-integrated grille styles are all available for a wide range of trucks, SUVs, and cars. Fitment is specific to year, make, and model, and installation requires removing the factory grille and properly seating the replacement without gaps or misalignment.

YOU NEED THIS IF:

  • You drive rural Ohio roads where wildlife and road debris are a regular concern
  • Your hood and windshield are collecting chips and insect damage on the highway
  • You want to crack the windows without rain or wind noise at highway speeds
  • Your factory grille is damaged or you want a more aggressive front-end look
  • You're building out a truck and want accessories that fit cleanly from day one

COMMONLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • How do I know which bug shield or rain guard fits my vehicle?

Fitment for exterior accessories is specific to year, make, model, and sometimes trim level. The same truck can have multiple hood profiles or door frame configurations across model years, meaning a guard that fits a 2019 F-150 may not seat correctly on a 2022. We source accessories with vehicle-specific fitment and verify compatibility before ordering. If you're unsure what fits your truck, bring it in or give us your year, make, and model, and we'll confirm before you spend anything.
  • What's the difference between a grille guard and a bull bar?

A grille guard is a full-frame structure that spans the width of the front end, protecting the grille, headlights, and bumper across the entire face of the vehicle. A bull bar is a smaller, center-mounted bar that primarily protects the middle of the bumper and grille. Grille guards offer broader coverage and are more common on trucks used in rural or off-road conditions. Bull bars are less intrusive and more common on trucks where appearance is the priority over maximum protection. We carry both styles and can walk you through the tradeoffs based on how you use the vehicle.
  • Will a grille guard affect my truck's airbag sensors or parking sensors?

It can. Some grille guards and bull bars can interfere with front-mounted radar systems, parking sensors, or adaptive cruise control sensors depending on how and where they mount. This is particularly relevant on newer trucks with advanced driver assistance systems. We check sensor placement and compatibility before recommending a specific guard for your vehicle. If a particular guard creates a sensor conflict, we'll tell you before it goes on.
  • Are rain guards easy to remove if I change my mind?

Tape-on rain guards are more permanent and can leave adhesive residue or affect paint if removed carelessly. In-channel guards sit inside the window channel without adhesive and can typically be removed without any impact on the vehicle. If you think you might want to remove the guards down the road, in-channel is the better choice. We'll walk you through both options before installation so you know what you're committing to.
  • Can I add a custom grille and keep my factory grille somewhere safe?

Yes. We remove the factory grille carefully during installation and can return it to you for storage. Keeping the original is a good idea if you plan to sell the vehicle and want the option to restore the factory look, or if the aftermarket grille ever needs to be replaced. Just let us know at the time of the appointment, and we'll bag and label it for you.
