ENGINE & DRIVETRAIN SERVICES IN CENTRAL OHIO
Engine and drivetrain problems don't always announce themselves clearly. The same symptom can have a dozen different causes, and the difference between a cheap repair and an expensive one often comes down to how accurately the problem gets diagnosed. At Pick Ups Plus Cars, we provide engine, drivetrain, transmission, and driveline services at both our Lewis Center and Hilliard locations. We've been doing this in Central Ohio for 25+ years, and our approach is simple: find the actual cause before recommending anything. That means we run diagnostics, inspect the relevant systems, and give you a straight answer on what's needed and what it will cost, before anything gets taken apart.

Engine Service & Diagnostics
Engine issues range from minor to serious, and the difference between them often comes down to how quickly you catch them. We perform engine diagnostics, tune-ups, oil and fluid services, and inspections that tell you exactly what's happening before it gets worse. If your check engine light is on, your vehicle is running rough, or you're noticing performance you can't explain, that's where we start.

Drivetrain & Driveline Repairs
The drivetrain is everything between your engine and your wheels: driveshafts, axles, CV joints, differentials, and the components that keep power moving to the road. Worn or damaged drivetrain components show up as vibration, clunking, or handling that doesn't feel right. We diagnose and repair drivetrain issues across two-wheel, four-wheel, and all-wheel drive configurations.
-
Transmission Service
Transmission problems don't always announce themselves clearly. Slipping gears, delayed engagement, rough shifts, or a transmission that hunts between gears are all signs that something needs attention. Addressing transmission issues early is almost always less expensive than waiting. We handle transmission fluid service, diagnostics, and repairs for both automatic and manual transmissions.

Engine Rebuilds & Heavy-Duty Drivetrain
When an engine has worn past the point of standard repair, a rebuild restores it to correct tolerances and extends its usable life significantly. We also handle drivetrain upgrades for vehicles under demanding load: towing packages, differential upgrades, and driveline components spec'd for off-road or heavy-use applications. This work is about durability and reliability under conditions the factory drivetrain wasn't designed to sustain long-term.

Engine & Drivetrain Questions
What are the signs my drivetrain needs repair?
The most common signs are vibration or shuddering while driving, clunking or clicking sounds when turning or accelerating, fluid leaks under the vehicle, and handling that feels loose or inconsistent. On four-wheel and all-wheel drive vehicles, difficulty engaging or disengaging the system is another indicator. These symptoms can come from driveshafts, CV joints, differentials, or axle components. In our experience, catching drivetrain issues early keeps a manageable repair from becoming a vehicle-down situation. How do I know if my engine needs a tune-up or something more serious?
Reduced power, rough or uneven idling, hard starts, poor fuel economy, and hesitation under acceleration are all signs the engine needs attention. A tune-up addresses maintenance items like spark plugs, filters, and ignition components. But those same symptoms can also indicate fuel system issues, sensor failures, or internal engine problems. The right answer is a proper diagnostic, not a guess. We run diagnostics first so we know exactly what we're dealing with before recommending any work. How often should I service my engine and drivetrain?
Follow your vehicle's owner's manual as a baseline. For most vehicles, oil changes run every 5,000 to 7,500 miles with full synthetic, transmission fluid every 30,000 to 60,000 miles, and differential fluid every 30,000 to 50,000 miles depending on use. Vehicles used for towing, off-road driving, or performance applications need more frequent service because they put more stress on these systems. If you're not sure where your vehicle stands, bring it in and we'll tell you what's due and what can wait.Should I repair or replace a failing transmission?
How much do engine and drivetrain repairs cost?
It varies considerably depending on what needs to be done. A diagnostic and tune-up costs significantly less than a transmission repair, and a transmission repair costs less than a full engine build. Every job is quoted after we assess the vehicle and identify the actual problem. We don't give estimates before we know what we're dealing with, because a number without a diagnosis isn't worth much. Contact us or bring your vehicle in and we'll give you a clear, accurate quote.
