CUSTOM EXTERIOR LIGHTING

Better exterior lighting means you can see more, drive safer, and build a truck that looks intentional from every angle. Whether you need a light bar for off-road visibility, fog lights for Central Ohio winters, or LED accents to finish off a custom build, Pickups Plus Cars carries and installs the products that actually hold up.

We've been doing this for 25+ years, and in that time, we've wired and installed lighting on everything from daily drivers to lifted work trucks. As part of our exterior customization services, our team handles the full job: product selection, wiring, and mounting, so you're not left troubleshooting a flickering LED bar six months later. All services are quote-based because every vehicle and every lighting goal is different.

LIGHTING SOLUTIONS FOR EVERY BUILD

We tint taillights, headlights, marker lights, and fog covers using professional-grade vinyl film in a range of shades, from light smoke to blacked out.

Taillight Tinting

Taillights are the most commonly tinted light on trucks and SUVs, and for good reason: they're large, visible, and have a significant impact on the vehicle's rear-end appearance. We apply film in your choice of shade, from a subtle smoke to a deeper tint, while maintaining enough light output to stay road legal.

Headlight Tinting

Headlight tinting adds a blacked-out or smoked look to the front end without replacing the housing. This works particularly well on builds where the goal is a darker, more aggressive aesthetic. We're careful with headlight tints because darkness levels matter here more than anywhere else on the vehicle for safety and legality.

Marker & Fog Light Covers

Marker lights and fog light covers are small details that most people overlook, but they're noticeable on a finished build. Tinting these to match your taillights or headlights ties the whole look together. We do these as standalone jobs or as part of a full light tinting package.

Custom Shade Matching

If you're building out a full exterior look, we can match tint shades across all your lights for consistency. We've done this on everything from lifted trucks to lowered dailies, and the result is always cleaner than mixing films from different sources.

YOU NEED THIS IF:

  • You want a cleaner, more custom look without modifying the body
  • Your build needs a cohesive blacked-out or smoked aesthetic
  • Your taillights or headlights look stock and out of place on an otherwise customized vehicle
  • You've tried a DIY tint and it's bubbling or peeling
  • You want professional results that hold up without lifting at the edges

COMMON LIGHTING QUESTIONS

  • What types of exterior lighting do you install?

We install LED light bars, fog lights, auxiliary lights, accent lighting, halo headlights, third brake lights, cargo lights, and marker light upgrades. If you have something specific in mind that isn't on that list, ask us. We've worked on a wide range of lighting setups across trucks, SUVs, and off-road vehicles over 25+ years, and we can tell you quickly whether it's something we can handle.
  • Is custom exterior lighting street legal?

It depends on the specific modification. LED light bars, for example, are legal to install on a vehicle in Ohio but cannot be used on public roads while driving. Fog lights, accent lighting, and halo headlights are generally street legal but must meet certain brightness and color restrictions. We know the relevant Ohio regulations and won't install anything that puts you in a bad spot legally. If a modification has restrictions, we'll tell you upfront.
  • How long does exterior lighting installation take?

A straightforward upgrade like a fog light swap or third brake light replacement typically takes a couple of hours. More involved installs, like a wired light bar with a bumper or roof mount, can take half a day or longer depending on the vehicle and the mounting solution. We give you a realistic timeframe at the time of your quote, not an estimate that falls apart once we get into the job.
  • Do LED lighting upgrades affect my vehicle's electrical system?

A properly wired LED upgrade puts less strain on your electrical system than the factory halogen bulbs it replaces, since LEDs draw significantly less power. The issue comes from poor wiring: incorrect relays, undersized wire gauges, or taps into the wrong circuits. We wire every install correctly the first time, which is the main reason professional installation matters for anything beyond a simple plug-and-play swap.
